Carleton life, for the past few weeks/months, has been very up and down. I'm usually more of a stable kind of girl, but whatev. It works.

Biggest disappointment for the year (also among Dara's biggest disappointments ever): After working all year in pre-RA programs, including a trip to a conference in Nebraska, after having my RA tell me I'd get the job no matter what, after having my Hall Director refer to me as "next year when you're an RA...", I was placed as an alternate for the position. That means "We'll-be-in-touch,-but-hey!-no-we-won't" and from what I've gathered, is basically pre-swimming the position. They would feel too bad if they straight-up told me no, so they just keep me around for their own purposes. Too many aspects of it make me angrier than I remember being in a very long time, which in turn makes me feel completely out of character...gross. Anyway, damn the man.

Silver lining? Of course. My roommate has room draw number 5 out of 550-ish, so we're going for a rockin' triple (with another buddy) in the cool sophomore dorm or, if we get really lucky, in a HOUSE. Now, if I can just find a nice sit-at-a-desk-and-do-nothing job for next year, life will be different than imagined, but just fine.

Other good things: college papers, realizing that majoring in bio will work for me, taking pictures (not with my still-MIA camera, though), the synchro show that included the boys swim team, less work this term, and the liberal arts boy. ALSO, in one month I will be off to Camp Birchwood, for a summer of teaching little girls how to windsurf, driving boats, playing Capture the Flag, songs and smores and campfires (yikes, this is starting to sound stereotypical), and completing my circle of life by being a counselor at the camp I've attended since I was five. I'm actually tingling with excitement.

This means, sadly, that I will probably be taking my finals and driving up to camp on the same day. Carleton's crazy schedule leaves me no time for home friends...come ON! So, all are welcome to visit Northfield in the coming weeks and make fun of me for being still in school. And I'll be home for a weekend or two packing and preparing (including a bit of this weekend, maybe) so let's be in touch, yes? Yes.

Arrested Development and House are the greatest and I love them.

Enough for now. Until soon!
